A good source of information as well as parts for a known vehicle, e.g., the aforementioned Dodge B300 is Rockauto. They provide technical information as well as pictures of the parts. The pictures are helpful in determining if the part might fit. Just search for rockauto.com.

Inasmuch as I rebuilt my braking system 6 years ago, I reviewed the information I recorded related to the rear suspension and brakes. In addition, I reread the information contained in my slant-nosed manual. The manual states that the rear suspension is "Free rolling tandem axles. Walking Beam with Hendrickson suspension and heavy duty shocks." My notes that the axles are Dexter 8,000 lbs and 3.5" diameter. The brake drums are 8 lug #8-187A.

From the information you have provided, I suspect your axles are Dexter 8, 000 lbs with a 5 lug brake drum. Thus I suggest that you discuss your problem with Dexter Trailer Axles. If they cannot help you, I have read that a number of salvaged Revcons are sitting in some RV salvage yards in the USA. You might consider contacting them.
Hope this helps.

Thank you very much, TTTPHD! :D

This information helps me a lot!

Response By Email (Mark):

"We’re sorry, we do not offer what you are requesting. You will have to search the internet."

Alright, so I have ordered a Raybestos 1350R drum from Mike&Franks
in Germany, it should arrive by the beginning of May.

I usually get all my parts on rockauto.com. If my plan with machining the center hole
and drilling five additional holes works, I´ll buy 3 more drums.

I hope that the bolt circle with 5 additional holes won´t be a problem and I don´t know
much about the specific effects what the drilling and increasing the center hole might
have on the originally balanced drum - if there are any. :?

One thing is for sure: I´m not willing to drive with old and cracked rear brake drums, I´m afraid of it.

If my mechanic is not able to convert the Raybestos 1350R drum for my Revcon, I will contact
Dexter Trailer Axels. Maybe in that case you could provide me with some contact possibilities concerning
RV salvage yards with Revcons in the USA.

BR
Matt

The earlier Revcon axles with the square tubes are not Dexter. For whatever reason the word Wolverine axles sticks on my mind as the brand, but I can't say for sure.

For an answer to why you have cracked brake drums, search for "1979 Revcon Buckingham Recall".

No wonder that there is no original drum available for my 1979 Revcon. The vibration problem is also described. The first owner imported the Revcon directly to Germany and the second owner has never checked the drums. Both drove not faster than 58 mph and were not able to identify the origin of the vibrations. In the end the drums didn' t fall apart in 44 years.

But now it' s easy. I just have to head to my local Revcon dealer and get the recall service performed!

No, just kidding.

Let' s wait and see if my mechanic in Saxony has got a solution. Maybe he is able to modify the Raybestos drums. I really hope so. :?

According to Dave, pre-1982 Revcons had a square axle. A possible solution you might desire to investigate can be seen by searching "F350 1974 Revcon motor home drum brakes".
Will 1974 F350 drum brakes work. View them at rockauto.

Thank you for the suggestion. Bad news today:

My mechanic is not able to modify the Raybestos 1350R drums for my 1979 Revcon Slant Nose. So this possibility as described in the part numbers list from "The Revconeer" (1999):

"Brake Drum Raybestos 1350 (Will need machining and shimming)"

was maybe for Flat Nose Revcons only. Regrettably this was not apperent. Bad luck.
