Silver was also an optional color. Not near as many painted silver, but they are out there. The striping was blue. Black and ice white looks good too.

What a coincidence...have a look at the picture - almost like mine. Even the yellow fog lamps on the bumper are the same. :(

Busted out windshield. But does anyone notice the rear tire? Looks like it has been converted to a single axle with an oversized rear tire. That is no small task to make that conversion. Surprised to see that in a homeless type environment.

Very interesting. How can you do such a conversion?

An Austrian U.S. car forum member walked down the street some years ago, he wrote
that the beat-up Revcon was there in 2017 and 2018. The article is from 2022.

For those who have done it, they usually find a junk yard axle from a heavy truck. Weld up new spring brackets and bolt it in. I think if i were doing it, I'd be inclined to find a heavy trailer axle and weld it in. Probably look for a torsion axle. Most of the time, you only see this done on the older single rear axle Revcons, due to the odd wheel size and load rating. I would not do this with a tandem axle Revcon, as the tandem setup provides greater handling stability than duallies. There is really no reason to. The only modification I would do to a tandem would be that conversion I did to disc brakes. While the conversion does away with the E-brake, in the end, the greater braking capability with disc brakes far out weighs the safety loss of the E-brake. I have seen where someone found a caliper that included an E-brake, but that involves custom making brackets for the calipers. The conversion I did was bolt on.

Thank you for your explaination!

To-do list Revcon for 2023:

1. Replacing the 4 rear wheel bearings on the Hendrikson Tandem and the one tire with an oval outline in order to get finally rid of the annoying vibrations. Spin balancing on the vehicle afterwards.

2. New foil trim in dark red (April). The company needs warm weather to get the job done.

3. My mechanic has to adjust the service hatch in the front properly before applying a new foil, because of the incorrect clearance. There is a gap on the driver's side.

4. The new front AC is still leaking in a downpour. Has to be sealed properly.

5. Differential oilchange and new sealing.

6. New driveshafts with new bolts (breakdown in August 22)

7. 2 new shocks (front).

8. Frame of the hitch (rear) - I ordered 2 little wheels to prevent grounding.

9. Spoiler damage (from towing in August). The cracks on both sides have to be eradicated.

10. Concerning sliding window at the driver's seat and all the big windows: New fitting fuzzy channels. The ones which I have already bought before are too tight and don' t seal the windows like they should.

Matt

If you are going to go for bearings, it might be interesting to look into a disk brake conversion. Makes a huge difference in stopping distance.

OK, thank you for your advise!

I´m back and ready to go on! :D New wheel bearings are on the way. New foil trim is organized.

Dave, this is your former Revcon, right? 8-)

https://www.ebay.com/itm/266284266274?h ... R5yTwaiVYg

I remember the wooden dashboard.

"You are viewing a very well kept 1985 Revcon Prince classic 31ft motor-home. It is loaded. If you are looking at this then you might already know the history and the connection to Airstream motor-homes. The body is built similar to Airstream motor-homes.

Revcon has all aluminum frame and skin which will last indefinitely with proper care, unlike the de-lamination with the assembly type of RVs these days. Also, the Revcon is front wheel drive. This lowers the center of gravity so it handles like a car, I have read that the center of gravity is 35 inches. This doesn't sway like the taller ones. There is plenty of information on these on the internet. There are plenty of upgrades on this one to modernize it also.

The interior is in great shape, twin beds in the back, full length couch that turns into a bed, dinette that turns into a bed. The shower has a built in seat. The bathroom vent is remote controlled with a thermostat in the remote. There is some wear in the sink where the color is coming off by the drain. It has a newer toilet with a sprayer. Plenty of cubbyholes in the bathroom.

The hallway closet is lit. The fridge works great. The microwave has been replaced. There is a 1800 watt Zantrex inverterpowering the outlet for the entertainment system with a remote to power it up. It has a 42" Roku television with an LG DVD player with 5 speakers and a subwoofer(will not play Blu-ray) both remotes included. The transfer switch is starting to take a while to switch over, might need replacing soon.

The refrigerator board is 1 year old and also has a new spare board. The hardwood floor has been replaced with vinyl plank. Not the best job but it looks good.

Many books and manuals come with it. And plenty of receipts. Feel free to message me with any questions.

This has so much done to it the best way is just to list it all.
50 Amp service, with 30 amp adapter. I upgraded from 30 so I could use both AC's at campgrounds.
It has a GM 8.1L. (496 cu. In.) fuel injected engine hooked to a Allison 1000 5speed over drive transmission connected to the original transfer case via a short stub shaft 29 spline male on transmission to 32 spline female on transfer case.

The transfer case gears have been swapped top to bottom for effective gear ratio of 410 to 1 (diff.has 3.73 to 1 gears). At 65 mph on highway nets 2100 rpm near as I can tell fuel mileage is 8 to 10 mpg at that speed.
It is a good old motor-home that I have owned for 4 years and am looking for someone that will take good care of it.
4 year old front a/c and attic fan, 40,000 BTU furnace 5 year old. Heat strips in both AC's.

4 year old 10 gal dsi/electric water heater plus hot rod kit, yes 3 ways to heat water. No cold showers. Extra anode included.

It has VIP tow brake control system in motor-home Tow vehicle servo system goes with it will need to be installed in toad.

I also have many spares that will go with it, engine control unit, accelerator control module and sensor, throttle body, bearings and seals for all wheels CV joint boots for front axle, extra 1800 watt Zantrex inverter, transmission shift cable used, serviceable transfer case chain, custom made center bushings for rear walking beam suspension.
Diff has been serviced, bearings replaced about 55,000 miles ago.

Total mileage on chassis 145,000, all bearings and bushings have been replaced 4 years ago.
Tag axles are original, but modified for disc brakes, all bushings replaced 4 years ago.

Engine had 10,000 miles on in from a 2004 K3500 that had been hit in side and totaled.

Transmission was overhauled at install, so it only has about 20,000 miles on it.

Transfer case had new bearings and drive chain installed 25,000 miles ago.

Bell cranks have tapered bearings installed, coach also has HWH leveling jacks.

And Onan 4000 generator with electronic ignition from Kirk Engines, digital dash board was replaced with all VDO gauges 4 years ago, still have original odometer.
Cruise control works when lights are off but not when on, I haven't figured that one out yet.

Dash a/c works fine.
Tires were front end aligned late 2017.
The brakes are hydro boost powered by the power steering pump.

There are Balance Masters mercury filled disk mounted behind all wheels.

The brakes rotors are original ford in front rear are Dexter hubs with ford rotors and calipers.
(it has disk brakes on all wheels) 1979 ford F350 front brakes for parts.

New bearings were installed in Dana 70 about 55,000 miles ago also axle bearings at outer end of diff.
New axle u joints put in 3 years ago CV joints are original.
New drive shaft and u joints installed 5 years ago, also park brake rotor and caliper.

The park brake is on drive shaft at transfer case parts are from TSM mfg. in Colorado.

It has the original fender skirts.

It has the roof mounted remote spot/floodlight.

It has an exhaust temperature monitor on the steering column.

It has Hummer H2 wheels in average condition all around, including spare. Newish tires, around 2,000 miles. Load range E."
