Greetings! Not sure who all is still active in this forum? Let me know you are still out there! I bought this 71 about 7 years ago. I am the 3rd owner. Engine was out when I purchased, getting a make over. Towed to a friends and got her up and running in 3 days. Flow masters may not have been the best choice as the first long trip about 200 miles was loud! But tooling around town had a great sound. The look from passerby’s was one of 2. Either a look of shear terror like what is it!? Or pure joy smiling from ear to ear. I picked up with all interior in tact along with all paperwork, brochures, warranty, in good shape except for fabric on living spaces starting to deteriorate as is expected. Green Shag! Whoa! I then hooked up the water to test systems. Fill up was going well. Had to fiddle with the h20 pump wiring to get to run. As it was filling the copper lines the plumbing in the rear looked like a sprinkler head. Then I noticed a stream of water flowing out the front end. Someone along the way forgot to winterize. H20 heater was cracked in half. I should add that I bought this in hopes to turn into a food truck. Yeah I know. Thought with a few red and blue dots it would look like a loaf of wonder bread? Maybe get a plate that said “loafing?” The thought ended once I spent more time in it. Thought it would be a better investment for some fun family time! Anyway the h20 tank was cracked and I thought I was doing a full gut of the kitchen anyway so I removed it. I’m looking to replace all lines with Pex and a instant h20 heater. There’s this whole keep it original and stock thought. But this is a Revcon built as a revolutionary concept. Original is good but I’m looking to use this so upgrades are necessary if it’s going to be used by myself my kids and who knows maybe their kids? I hope to change some things and update while still keeping some of the old as long as possible. I was camping a weekend at a local camp, a couple approached and asked if it was new or old? So there’s the concept I’m going for Vintage-Modern. I replaced the floor in the kitchen and bath as the whole floor cockpit to bathroom (rear bath) was green shag. I put in some bamboo flooring leaving the shag everywhere else. Plan is to keep it as long as possible. I can see it starting to shrink as the cockpit area is going to get an overhaul in the spring. But under kitchen table and Captains cabin will stay! Haha! Had a few issues with the vent plastics deteriorating and leaking in. Ruined the Galley floor but I have some new waterproof laminate I’m going to replace with this spring. Galley had a cab makeover with stove being removed, new cabinets and a bench seat. I also removed the back closets as it really ate up space. It will function now as another bed and bench. I still need to get cushions made. Sourced a place to get original fabrics still on the roll. But colt differences from new to existing from uv exposure was to drastic. If I’m redoing everything I will upgrade to a solid color like white and go leather (when I hit the lottery) or vinyl ( realistically speaking that is). Looking for inspiration in some design themes I was doing some work in the back and noticed the rear speakers were from Lear Jet? Now I heard the early test Revcons were pieced together. Did someone pick Lear jet to use their speakers? What else from Lear Jet did they use? I’m still doing some research on the speakers, but looking at old Lear Jet cabins they are nice! I am having some issues with electrical for interior lights, running lights and had a squirrel chew my gas lines. I’ll be posting in another category for help and insight to get this stuff working and help out where I can with what I’ve learned so far about this vehicle. I am looking to be on the road this spring! Well if you made it through all of this you probably are just as excited about your Revcon as I am. Pleased to meet you! Kind Regards, Tony Gio 1971 Revcon 250D.
